Abundance: A Winter Gift Swap
November 16 | 3-4pm | At CCHE
Inspired by our upcoming book discussion of The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World, join us for an evening of sharing and connection. Bring one or many items that reflect something you have in abundance, homemade treats (sweet or savory), crafted items, garden or foraged goods, fresh or preserved foods, artwork, pottery, plants, sewn or knitted items, or anything you’d love to share.
You’ll have a space on a table to display what you’ve brought. After time to browse and appreciate everyone’s offerings, we’ll invite you to move around the room—offering your items to others and receiving something(s) that speaks to you in return. What you choose to give and what you choose to receive is entirely up to you, with each exchange guided by generosity, curiosity, and conversation. You may keep what you receive or gift forward this winter, continuing the spirit of shared abundance.
As Robin Wall Kimmerer writes, “Gratitude and reciprocity are the currency of a gift economy, and they have the remarkable property of multiplying with every exchange.”
Every gift shared and smile exchanged grows the spirit of generosity and connection in our community.
Want to add another layer of connection? Join us earlier in the day—November 16 from 1–2pm at CCHE, for Grateful Connections: A Speed Friending Event, a fun and welcoming way to meet others before the evening gathering.
