Description
Introduction: End of Life Doulas – Midwives to the Dying
October 23 | Noon-1pm | At CCHE & Zoom
Presenters & Partners: Pat Campanaro and Suzanne Sherman, Cook County Death Doulas
End-of-life issues affect everyone, regardless of age, health, or background.
Death, although unavoidable, is rarely discussed openly. Families and individuals often face crisis moments unprepared, having to deal with complex medical, legal, ethical, and emotional decisions. The lack of awareness and conversation can lead to confusion, stress, and missed opportunities for closure.
Join us if you are:
- Individuals facing a terminal illness or nearing the end of their natural life.
- Family members and friends of those who are dying, seek to support and
- understand their loved ones.
- Caregivers and healthcare professionals entrusted with providing compassionate, dignified care.
- Anyone wishing to prepare thoughtfully for their own future, knowing that clarity and planning can bring peace of mind.
Death Doulas play a vital role in the end-of-life journey, offering holistic support that addresses the emotional, spiritual, and practical needs of individuals and their families. In this session, we will discuss emotional support, spiritual guidance, practical assistance, legacy projects, and vigil presence.
You’re welcome to bring your own brown bag lunch. We’ll provide water and tea
Want to explore these important topics more deeply? Join the Death Doulas 5-Part Series, offered monthly on Thursdays from November 2025 through March 2026.
