Description

Lactation & Breastfeeding Discussion
August 20 | 6-7pm | At CCHE & Zoom
Presenter and Partner: Arrowhead Birth Collective

Whether you're expecting, have recently welcomed a little one, are caring for an older child, or supporting a loved one on their feeding journey—this relaxed, welcoming session is for you.

Hosted by the doulas of the Arrowhead Birth Collective, this gathering offers a safe space to explore all aspects of lactation and feeding. Whether you're planning to chestfeed, breastfeed, pump, supplement, wean, or simply want to learn more, we’re here for you.

We’ll talk about:

  • Getting started with breastfeeding or chestfeeding
  • Navigating the early days and common challenges
  • Pumping, bottle feeding, donor milk, and combo-feeding
  • Extended nursing and feeding beyond infancy
  • Weaning gently and on your own timeline
  • Adapting feeding routines as life shifts—including changes in caregiving roles, schedules, or outside responsibilities
  • Emotional well-being and building a strong support system
  • Helpful tools, tips, and local resources to support your feeding goals

You’ll hear guidance from experienced parents and trained experts, plus have the chance to share your own questions, stories, and insights in a supportive, nonjudgmental space.

Light snacks will be available. Babies, kiddos, and walk-ins are all welcome.

No matter what feeding looks like for you, you're not alone. Join us for connection, conversation, and support.

Arrowhead Birth Collective (ABC) is a group of birth workers who aim to provide perinatal support and make doula care more accessible in Cook County—in the fall of 2022, four women, Grace Granger, Hannah Miller, Sadie Sigford, and Britt Malec, collaborated to create increased access to doula services. “We want to make doula care accessible to people in the region, as well as create a culture of support around the experiences of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.  We aim to provide services for people locally who may want support for a home birth, planned induction in Duluth, or someone with birth physiology knowledge to accompany them on the drive to the hospital,” said Malec.
