Educator Presentation with Erin Walsh
August 27 | 1-2pm | Arrowhead Center for the Arts
Early Childhood-12th Grade
This event is being supported by Cook County Schools Community Education, Cook County Higher Education, and Cook County Public Health & Human Services.
Come together with teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators from the schools in Cook County for an engaging and informational session with Erin Walsh from the Spark & Stitch Institute.
Social networking, smartphones, and video games are transforming the educational landscape for today's students. While much of this technology use occurs outside the classroom, its influence profoundly shapes students' social and academic lives. In this interactive and dynamic presentation, Erin Walsh will leverage brain science, anecdotes, and humor to illustrate how technology impacts mental health and academic performance.
Educators will gain insights into the latest research on screen time and mental health, along with practical tools and strategies for addressing these challenges both within schools and with families. We encourage those in attendance to bring their questions!
This event is intended to launch some community learning conversations that may include online classes, discussion groups, and book reads depending on interest.

She has consulted with schools, school districts, parent groups and other youth serving organizations throughout North America on issues related to digital media, parenting, and social emotional development.
