Understanding Spruce Budworm in Minnesota's Forests
August 22 | 12:30 pm-1:30 pm Presentation at CCHE and 1:30 pm-2 pm Scouting/ID Walk
Presenters & Partners: Minnesota Extension, Cook County Community Center, Cook County Firewise, and Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District
Spruce budworm has a visible impact on the forests in Minnesota's Northeast Arrowhead. Dead and dying balsam fir and spruce are key signs of spruce budworm infestation, which leaves many of us concerned about how to manage the health of our woodlands.
Join us for an in-person workshop to learn more about the identification, impacts, and management of spruce budworm with Extension Educators. Learn about resources available through Cook County Firewise and Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District for responding to spruce budworm. This workshop will focus on spruce budworm at a forest health scale but will also contain information relevant to those concerned about budworm impacts in yards of all sizes.
