Instructor: Don Bremer

This advanced Microsoft Excel class teaches participants how to use powerful functions and data-analysis tools to automate work, clean and reorganize information, and extract meaningful results from complex spreadsheets. Topics include COUNTIF, LOOKUP and VLOOKUP, text functions, absolute cell references, subtotals, PivotTables, named ranges, Text to Columns, removing duplicates, importing web data, troubleshooting formula errors, and using the Analysis ToolPak for moving averages and regression analysis. Students will also learn how to record and edit macros using Visual Basic concepts such as statements, loops, and conditional logic, giving them the skills to create more efficient, accurate, and automated Excel workbooks

Ready for Advanced Excel?
If you can confidently answer yes to most of these questions, you're probably ready for the Advanced Excel class. If several of these are unfamiliar, the Intermediate class is likely the best fit.

  • Can you insert, edit, reply to, and manage comments (or notes) in a workbook?
  • Can you create and manage conditional formatting rules, including highlighting top/bottom values or values within a range?
  • Can you write IF formulas, including nested IF statements?
  • Can you use IF statements with both numbers and text?
  • Can you link data between different Excel workbooks?
  • Can you add and customize headers and footers for printing?
  • Can you create and customize column charts, including titles, axis labels, legends, and annotations?
  • Can you sort and filter lists using multiple criteria?
  • Can you create subtotals in a list of data?
  • Can you create and use a PivotTable to summarize data?
  • Can you complete a basic Mail Merge using Excel data (optional but helpful)?
