Do you know what to do when concerned about someone’s mental or emotional well-being?
COMET (Changing Our Mental and Emotional Trajectory) Community Training
In the training, you
- Learn a natural way to talk with a friend, a neighbor, or an acquaintance about difficult topics.
- Learn a conversational guide and the importance of being “the other person.”
- Practice the COMET intervening questions and plan how you will use COMET to have in conversations about another’s well-being.
How does COMET work?
COMET helps people feel more prepared to start conversations about mental health.
Often, we want to support our friends, neighbors, and colleagues in times of need, but may not know how. COMET empowers us to be more prepared to support others’ mental health needs, especially before a crisis.
This training doesn’t expect community members to “fix it,” but instead trains people to feel comfortable initiating a supportive and potentially emotional conversation by using a simple seven-question guide.
