Voting 101: Understanding Voting in Minnesota
April 16 | 6-7pm | Zoom
Presenter and Partner: Michael Wall, Office of Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon
Whether you are new to voting, new to Minnesota, or simply looking for a refresher, we invite you to join this Zoom conversation focused on understanding how voting works in Minnesota and how to feel more prepared to participate in upcoming elections.
This session will offer an overview of elections including midterm elections, local elections, and the many ways Minnesotans can take part in the voting process. We will talk through practical questions such as how to register to vote, where to find your local polling place, how to see what will be on your ballot before Election Day, and the different ways people can vote in Minnesota, including early voting and absentee voting.
We will also explore what can feel helpful to know if you are voting for the first time, have recently moved, or simply want a clearer understanding of how elections work at the local and state level. In addition to learning about the voting process itself, we will consider ways individuals and communities can help support informed and accessible civic participation across Minnesota.
This gathering is designed to be welcoming, practical, and informative, with time for questions and shared conversation.
